I don't live in a converted loft...however, I needed an 18-inch towel rack to replace one that had failed to remain in place--it depended totally in the integrity of the drywall using a butterfly that "opens" through the hole--and I couldn't find a screw-butterfly arrangement that would last.Positives--this is well made, has 4 screws that fit into plastic sleeves that expand with the Phillips-head flat screws. They have the same finish as the pipes. Every fitting actually screws into the other--if you neeve 1/8, 1/4 inch adjustments here or there. However, this fits perfectly, will cover the carnage done to my drywall. It is such a contrast to an "upscale-ish" 1994 townhouse that I'm likely to buy more if I need them, including the other lengths and the towel and coat rack. This item is well-finished and really gives a "1949" industrial look that is stamped on the plates that over the wall. I like the large plates about 2.5 inch diameter as well--rugged looking.I think those are the good points. Drill 8 holes and screw the the provided screws into the anchors, all provided. Anyone could install this with a 3/8 in. drill 1/8 inch bit and Phillips head screwdriver or drill bit. I like it.
